MY HR APPROACH
If we take care of our employees, they will take care of our business. I strongly believe that a HR is the strongest support of an organization. Many organizations make the mistake of hiring a HR in the end after most of the important hires, but the irony is that the first hire of an organization should be a HR so that the culture stays intact from the beginning. HR is definitely about policies and structures, but more than that a HR strongly shapes the identity of an organization by being a pillar of support, for both, the organization and employees. A very interesting fact is quite known and pushed forward by every individual that HR does not have a lot of work. However, support systems are never appreciated, and so is the idea of a HR. My approach as a HR strongly believes in building a structured workplace where every employee feels appreciated and every organization hires the best candidate creating a smooth onboarding experience for new hires. While hiring is an aspect, engagement and retention are the key to keeping the employees happy and heard in the organization. Setting the right structure from the beginning is the secret towards building a healthy and positive workplace.

Aug 2019 – Oct 2019RECRUITMENT & HIRING
Platforms used for hiring – Naukri, Internshala, Apna, Indeed, LinkedIn, WorkIndia, Monster, Instahyre. Official Website
My process:
- Post the vacancies on different platforms.
- Screen resumes based on requirements.
- Select at least 5 resumes from each portal to identify quality of candidates.
- Conduct a telephonic interview to judge the interest level of the candidate and check if the basic requirements are satisfactory.
- Schedule a Round 2 interview online/offline to assess the candidate’s body language, cultural fit and seriousness about the role.
- Move to Final round if all boxes are ticked and be prepared for selection/rejection.
- Take down all hiring posts after the position is filled.
Candidate Evaluation :
- Begin with observing the body language.
- Check the communication skills.
- Ask questions relevant to the role requirements and check for the seriousness towards the role.
- Try to close the candidate within the specified budget but do not hesitate to raise the bar if the candidate is skillful and the best fit for the organization.
Challenges faced:
01.
Not finding the right fit – this problem is solved by initially posting on the three best platforms (based on the budget assigned for hiring) and not all at once. When we post all at once, we tend not to utilize every portal effectively.
02.
Mix up of candidate feedback – this challenge talks about the confusion caused due to following an unstructured approach. Maintenance of an Interview Sheet mentioning the Date, Candidate Name, Email ID, Contact Details, Resume and the feedback generated after each round is the solution to this problem.
03.
Losing good candidates due to internal timelines – Most of the times, due to internal timelines, organizations tend to lose on the good candidates due to delay in the hiring process. To avoid this problem, I try to keep in touch with the shortlisted candidates to stay updated on their career progress.
04.
Wrongful/Incomplete communication of hiring needs – A lot of times, lack of clear information in terms of hiring needs causes the wrong hiring. For every department, it is important to communicate the right hiring need along with the roles, responsibilities and package to be offered. .
EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
Employee engagement to me is a very important aspect of HR as my aim during these activities is not just to have fun, but to focus on the skill building aspect of every employee. A lot of times, these sessions are considered to be unimportant but these play a very vital role in personal development and team bonding. As a HR, my objective has always been on planning one skill that I want every employee to focus on once every month. Since, our team was split between India and Dubai, we conducted various online and offline sessions to make every employee a part of the engagement session.
Reflection Activity + Bollywood Visual Memory Game
Reflection Activity included letting every employee write three main learning and three main challenges that they have faced during their time with the organization.
Brand Darshan (Hindi brand guessing game)
This activity was an online activity where we create a WhatsApp group and add all our team members into the group and provide them the Hindi translations of brands and they have to guess the right brand.
5 Seconds Game (rapid thinking)
This activity was an online activity where we create a WhatsApp group and add all our team members into the group and give them a rapid fire question, where they have to answer in 5 seconds.
Creative Pictionary
Creative Pictionary is an interactive game where participants are given a word, phrase, or concept and must draw it using only visuals while others try to guess it within a limited time, without any verbal or written clues.
